Aloha Friday

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would participate and take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at An Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

We've had a houseful for the holidays and a bit of cabin fever with the weather. There have been a few heated discussions and one in particular left me with Today’s question:

Do you believe parents are responsible for steering children in a religious direction?

I do, but as I said it was a heated discussion and I wasn't in the majority. So, I want to know how you all feel.

I can only speak for my husband and I and how we parent, so YES! I do believe it is part of parenting, at least in this house

Yes I believe it is the parents who guide their children's religion instruction and give them a good base for when they are older and have decisions to make concerning religion.

I do! I think it is very important for parents to provide their children with some religious guidance!

I have a mixed bag of reality for this one. First while they are litte get your children involved in church and keep them there yes at this stage you are responsible for their religious instructions and to make sure you get them to where they are to go. Second, is where the mixed bag begins first allow them to experience different places of religions (still guided by you) so that they feel comfortable to help others and find a place to belong. However, do not let them slip make sure it is still important that they belong and are expected to attend religious services regularly

I think that parents should definitely teach their children about religion and family cultures. However, I think it should be the child's choice once they get older.
